GENERAL INFORMATION

SOLVAY BULGARIA is a joint-stock company, registered on November 13, 1997.
Majority shareholder in the company is the Austrian company SOLVAY ÖSTERREICH GmbH, which owns 100% of the capital.
As a regional representative of the Regional Business Unit “Basic Chemicals – Europe”, Solvay Bulgaria is responsible for marketing and sales of soda ash, sodium bicarbonate and calcium dichloride in Southeast Europe and Middle East.
The company takes an active part in Solvay group’s activities for total quality. As a subsidiary of the Group, Solvay Bulgaria participates in the “Responsible Care^®” programme by which the chemical industry undertakes to continuously improve its achievements in health, safety and environment.
The company does the sales logistics of the Solvay Group in the region.
The logistics and maritime transport department is a center of logistics excellence and a piece, that serves all the issues, research and projects, related to road, rail, river and sea transport. Also storage, shipping, hiring of transport equipment and other logistics services for the Balkans and Black Sea, including Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Greece, Albania, Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro.
An important activity is the chartering of ships and containers for cargo flows, which are loaded from the factory in Devnya through Varna West port for overseas export, and to nearby destinations in the Black Sea region and the Mediterranean sea.
If necessary, specialist in maritime chartering provides sea transport for supply of raw material (coal, coke or anthracite for Solvay Sodi and subsidiaries). Annually about 160 ships are charted for more than 550 000 tonnes of cargo, over 13 500 containers for cargo flow of 300 000 tonnes.
Solvay Bulgaria operates its own railway park (20 soda carriers), as well as with hired pneumatic railway soda carriers and auto soda carriers for transferring soda ash in bulk.
